Our Story
Where it all began
Our story begins in Waianae, where our family of 11—9 brothers and 2 sisters—learned boxing at the Waianae Boxing Club. Four of us became Golden Gloves champions. Some of us turned professional, but injuries ended our boxing careers.
We transitioned into music, forming a group that performed across the islands and even opened for big names like Boyz II Men. After our music journey ended, we ventured into the food industry, starting with food trucks and eventually opening several restaurants, including A & G’s Bar and Grill, Ono Steak and Shrimps, and Mike & Billz Fire Grillz.
Our food truck journey led us to help uplift our community thru sponsorships, including at one point an up and comer getting started on his own journey..UFC’s “Daddest Man on the Planet” Max “Blessed” Holloway. But we were also no stranger to challenges. After a difficult period, including a restaurant closure due to COVID-19, we persevered. Our faith and determination led us to a new opportunity at Moanalua Golf Club. On Christmas Eve, we received the best gift: the chance to open our new restaurant.
Our journey is rooted in resilience, faith, and the belief that perseverance leads to success. We are thrilled to share our passion for food with you at our new location… E Ohi Restaurant. Come and join us
Aloha,
Mike & Billie Pelen
